Friday Favorites: Fall Accessories

SAK.FF.Accessories.png

I hope you’ve all had an amazing week, I know I have! It feels so nice to be back in Arizona for a little bit. For today’s Friday Favorites I am going to be sharing five of my favorite fall accessories! As you all know by now, I love to accessorize and there is no better time than fall to whip out some new accessories—everything from blanket scarves, leather jackets, even a PSL or two. You can shop my favorites below! xo

Brimmed Hats

This fall accessory is a staple; it can instantly turn a bad hair day into a good one. This past season we saw a new style is emerging this season… the paperboy hat! I can’t wait to get my hands on a few new brimmed hats this season! I traditionally go for natural tones such as browns, blacks, and even oranges!

Scarves

Scarves are another staple of fall! They are basically the necklaces of fall/winter. I know I like to have a variety of colors, materials, and some that are heavy or light weight. If you could see my room right now you’d see a huge bag of scarves that is probably ready to explode.

Leather Jackets

I currently own approximately 20 leather jackets, but does that stop me from wanting more? Hell no! Leather jackets are one of my current obsessions! I have been dying to get one in a bright color and this might just be the season that I take the plunge. Leather jackets are perfect for layering and they give any outfit an edgy look.

Tote Bags

A girls best friend is her tote bag. In NYC, a tote only lasts one season, so when fall rolls around I’m always looking for something new. When transitioning from summer to fall I usually opt for earthy or dark tones and the bigger the better.

Sunglasses

Last but certainly not least, my all time favorite accessory is sunglasses! This fall I am swapping out my traditional sunglasses for retro styles. I am absolutely obsessed with this retro trend and I cannot wait to get my hands on a pair of these sunglasses. I usually like fun colors that compliment my outfit!

What I Wear to Work (As a Stylist)

SimplyAudreeKate.SamKelly__DSC9770-1

Something that a majority of people might not mention about working in the fashion industry, well if you’re on the creative side, it’s a lot of schlepping around bags, trunks of clothing, heavy lifting and you’re running around on your feet all day. My “work” wear is pretty different than the outfits I post on the blog, or even on Instagram, so I thought it might be interesting to do a different approach to my SAK outfit posts today and show you what I typically wear while styling a photoshoot or a client.

Comfort is key, and as much as I would love to wear cute booties or lots of layers, it’s just unrealistic. I have learned to incorporate comfy pieces, such as graphic tees, jeans and sneakers into my everyday wear, but I’m also try to make sure they are polished and functional.

Photoshoots are long days—up to 12 hours on your feet, and sneakers are my saving grace. I normally opt for stretchy jeans or a loose dress that I can easily move around in to dress the model, pack/unpack product and that I don’t mind sitting on the ground in (if needed). I normally wear a t-shirt and layer a light jacket or kimono because sometimes it’s cold, but once you’re running around, I love being able to un-layer. The final touch, is my styling kit. I just recently got my Kipling fanny pack and it’s been my styling bestie (see here). I always have a bag/styling kit with my essentials, such as pins, clamps, lint roller, etc. , and having the kit directly on me, is the easiest way to work.

So there you have it folks—my work dresscode is a graphic tee, jeans, sneakers and a styling kit. Hope you enjoyed today’s look and you can shop the items below! xo

How to Wear Your Summer Florals in Fall

SimplyAudreeKate.SamKelly__DSC0424-1

Wait, florals in fall? Yes please! Florals are one of my favorite prints and I hate the idea of ditching them for half of the year—what’s the fun in that? On Friday I shared my favorite Fall Floral looks on the blog (HERE), and today I wanted to talk about transitioning your summer florals, and lighter color pieces to fall and winter. The main key is to pair them with dark colors! I paired this pastel Alice + Olivia kimono with a black lace slip, blue velvet booties and belt, and a dark lip! This combo makes the overall look feel more fall, even if this summery kimono is light and colorful.

I’m off to Arizona today for 2 weeks and I.AM.READY for a little vacation from New York and a chance to see my friends and family. I’ll be teaching four workshops while I’m in Arizona and talking about blogging, branding your business and breaking into the fashion industry. If you’re interested in attending my workshops, learn about my Phoenix Fashion Week ones (HERE)!
